contrariwise
In opposite fashion
Contrariwise means in the opposite way or direction, or from an opposite point of view.
It can introduce a statement that contradicts or reverses what came before: You might expect the cold to slow them down; contrariwise, they became more active.
The word also means perversely or in a contrary manner.
It has a slightly old-fashioned or literary flavor, familiar to many from its use by Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Lewis Carroll's *Through the Looking-Glass*.
