confabulatory

Falsely filling gaps

Confabulatory describes speech or behavior involving confabulation—the production of fabricated or distorted memories without intent to deceive.

In clinical contexts, confabulatory responses fill memory gaps with plausible but false information, common in certain brain injuries and dementias: The patient gave confabulatory accounts of his morning activities.

More loosely, it can describe rambling, chatty conversation.
