commemorative editions
Collector's release versions
Commemorative editions are special versions of books, coins, stamps, or other items produced to honor a person, event, or anniversary.
Publishers and mints issue them in limited quantities, often with enhanced features—leather binding, gold leaf, special illustrations—that distinguish them from standard releases: The commemorative edition marking the novel's fiftieth anniversary includes the author's original manuscript notes.
The appeal lies partly in collectibility, partly in sentiment.
