coastline erosion
Beach wearing away
Coastline erosion is the gradual wearing away of land along the shore by waves, currents, tides, and weather.
Natural coastline erosion shapes beaches and cliffs over time, but human activity and rising sea levels can accelerate the process: Coastline erosion threatens homes built too close to the water.
