coördinate

Bring into alignment

Coördinate is an older spelling of coordinate, using a diaeresis to show that the two o's are pronounced separately rather than as a single sound.

The New Yorker magazine famously retains this spelling along with similar forms like coöperate.

Outside such stylistic holdouts, the spelling is archaic—coordinate now dominates.
