close-up photography

Magnified subject capture

Close-up photography captures subjects at very short distances, revealing detail invisible to casual observation.

The technique magnifies insects, flowers, textures, and small objects, filling the frame with what might otherwise go unnoticed.

Close-up differs from macro photography technically—macro produces life-size or larger images on the sensor—but the terms blur in casual use: I got some great close-ups of the bee on that flower.
