clay molds
Ceramic casting templates
Clay molds are hollow forms made from clay, used to shape other materials.
Molten metal, plaster, or liquid clay is poured into the mold and allowed to harden, taking on the mold's interior shape.
In ceramics, clay molds produce identical pieces efficiently: She cast a dozen figurines using the same clay mold.
The mold itself may be single-use or reusable depending on the technique.
