clapping songs
Playground palm routines
Clapping songs are rhythmic children's songs accompanied by patterned hand-clapping games between two or more players.
The claps follow set sequences—palms together, palms against partner's palms, crossing patterns—synchronized to the verses.
Traditional examples include "Pat-a-Cake" and "Miss Mary Mack." The songs often feature nonsense words, counting, or call-and-response elements that make the rhythm easier to maintain.
