circus posters
Showtime promotional displays
Circus posters are the large, colorful advertisements announcing traveling circus performances.
The classic style features bold typography, vivid illustrations of acrobats, elephants, clowns, and exotic animals, often with dramatic promises of death-defying acts.
The term evokes a distinctive vintage aesthetic—busy, exuberant, slightly garish—that has become iconic in graphic design: The bar's walls were covered in reproduction circus posters.
