channel switching
Browsing TV options
Channel switching is moving between different communication platforms or methods during an interaction—shifting from email to phone, from chat to video call, from text to in-person conversation.
In customer service contexts, it often describes when a customer must repeat information after being transferred to a new channel: I hate channel switching—I've already explained this problem three times.
The term also applies to consumers moving between retail channels, browsing online but buying in-store or vice versa.
