cargo ramp

Aircraft loading incline

A cargo ramp is an inclined surface that allows vehicles, equipment, or freight to be loaded directly into an aircraft, ship, or truck.

Military transport planes and cargo aircraft typically have rear cargo ramps that lower to the ground: The tanks rolled up the cargo ramp into the C-17.

The ramp eliminates the need for forklifts or cranes, enabling rapid loading in the field.
