Passenger stairs are a mobile staircase used to board or exit an aircraft when a jet bridge isn't available.
The stairs roll up to the plane's door, allowing passengers to walk between the tarmac and cabin: We descended the passenger stairs onto the rain-soaked runway.
Also called airstairs when built into the aircraft itself.
