capriole
Airborne equine kick
A capriole is a vertical leap in which a horse kicks out its hind legs at the height of the jump—a move associated with classical dressage and the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.
The term also names a similar leap in ballet, where the dancer beats the legs together in midair.
Both uses preserve the original sense of a goat's skip or caper.
