haute école
Advanced equestrian movements
Haute école is the most advanced form of classical dressage, featuring highly controlled movements that horses rarely perform naturally—the capriole, courbette, and levade among them.
These "airs above the ground" require years of training for both horse and rider.
The term is French for "high school," distinguishing it from the simpler movements of basse école.
