bunkie

Shared sleeping quarters

Bunkie is informal for a bunkmate—someone who shares sleeping quarters with you, especially in summer camps, military barracks, or other communal settings: My bunkie and I stayed up talking all night.

The term carries connotations of camaraderie and shared experience.

In Canadian usage, a bunkie is also a small freestanding cabin or sleeping structure, typically found at cottages or camps.
