brooming

Pushing a broom

Brooming is sweeping with a broom, or more specifically in curling, the vigorous sweeping of ice in front of a sliding stone to control its speed and direction: The skip called for heavy brooming to bring the stone into the house.

In construction, brooming refers to texturing wet concrete by dragging a broom across it to create a non-slip surface.
