break-even point
Costs equal revenue
The break-even point is where revenue exactly covers costs—no profit, no loss.
In business, it's the sales volume or price at which an enterprise stops losing money: We need to sell 500 units just to reach break-even.
The term extends to any situation where gains offset losses: After six months of practice, I hit the break-even point where I stopped making more mistakes than progress.
