bread bowl
Edible soup container
A bread bowl is a round loaf of bread hollowed out to serve as an edible container for soup, stew, or other foods.
The bread absorbs flavors from the filling and can be torn off and eaten along with the meal: I ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl.
Common at casual restaurants and bakeries.
