boot order
System initialization priority
Boot order is the sequence in which a computer checks devices for an operating system when starting up.
The BIOS or firmware tries each device in order—hard drive, USB drive, optical disc, network—until it finds one that can boot.
Users adjust boot order to install operating systems or run diagnostics from external media: I changed the boot order to boot from the USB stick.
