blind bid
Unseen purchase proposal
A blind bid is an offer made without knowing what others have bid or, sometimes, without full information about what's being sold.
The term appears in auctions, advertising, and contract negotiations where bidders submit sealed proposals: We put in a blind bid on the house without seeing the competing offers.
In real estate, blind bidding prevents buyers from knowing how much to outbid rivals.
