bird boxes
Nest substitutes outdoors
Bird boxes are small wooden structures mounted on trees or posts to provide nesting sites for wild birds.
Also called nesting boxes or birdhouses, they typically have a small entrance hole sized to attract specific species while excluding larger birds: We put up bird boxes to encourage blue tits in the garden.
The term is more common in British than American English.
