big belly
Prominent midsection forward
A big belly is a protruding abdomen, whether from weight gain, pregnancy, or bloating.
The phrase is straightforwardly descriptive but can carry judgment when applied to someone's body: He's developed quite a big belly since retirement.
In casual speech, having a big belly often implies overindulgence or poor fitness habits.
