betting rounds

Successive wagering phases

Betting rounds are the distinct phases in poker and similar card games when players can wager, check, raise, or fold.

Texas Hold'em has four betting rounds: preflop, flop, turn, and river.

Each round gives players new information—community cards revealed or opponents' actions—before they commit more chips.

The hand ended on the first betting round when everyone folded to his raise.
