bay boat
Inshore fishing vessel
A bay boat is a shallow-draft fishing boat designed for protected coastal waters—bays, estuaries, and inshore flats.
Typically 18 to 24 feet long with a low profile and open deck, bay boats handle chop better than flats boats while still accessing skinny water.
They're popular along the Gulf Coast for targeting redfish, speckled trout, and other inshore species: We took the bay boat out to the grass flats at dawn.
