battlecry

Troops' rallying yell

A battlecry is a shout warriors make when charging into combat—meant to intimidate enemies and rally allies.

By extension, any rallying phrase for a cause or movement: "No taxation without representation" became the colonists' battlecry.

Also spelled as two words: battle cry.
