basepaths
Routes between bases
The basepaths are the lanes between bases on a baseball diamond—the routes runners must follow when advancing.
A fast runner tears up the basepaths.
Rules govern behavior on the basepaths: runners can be called out for leaving them to avoid a tag.
Also spelled as two words: base paths.
