barium enema
Colon imaging procedure
A barium enema is a medical imaging procedure in which a liquid containing barium sulfate is introduced into the rectum, then X-rays are taken of the lower intestinal tract.
The barium coats the intestinal lining and makes it visible on X-ray, helping diagnose conditions like tumors, polyps, or inflammatory bowel disease.
