bare-eye
Without optical aid
Bare-eye means without optical aids—no telescope, binoculars, or magnifying glass.
Astronomers and birdwatchers use it to describe what's visible to unaided vision: Saturn's rings aren't visible to the bare eye.
The term is interchangeable with naked eye, though bare-eye more often appears as a compound modifier: bare-eye observation, bare-eye astronomy.
