bandbox
Lightweight cardboard box
A bandbox is a lightweight cylindrical box, originally for storing starched collars and ruffs, now for hats or other accessories.
The word survives mainly in the phrase fresh out of a bandbox, describing someone impeccably neat and well-dressed.
In American usage, a bandbox can also mean a small, cramped building—especially a minor-league baseball stadium.
