A Ball jar is a glass jar with a threaded mouth and metal lid, used for home canning and preserving food.
Named for the Ball Corporation that manufactured them, the term often applies generically to any mason jar: She put up tomatoes in Ball jars.
The jars have become popular for crafts, drinking glasses, and decorative storage.
