bad karma
Spiritual deficit accrued
Bad karma is the accumulation of negative consequences from harmful actions, drawn from Hindu and Buddhist concepts of moral cause and effect.
In casual use, it describes a sense that wrongdoing will eventually come back to haunt you: Cheating on the test was bad karma.
Someone might avoid certain behaviors to prevent bad karma, treating it as a kind of cosmic debt: I helped him move—didn't want the bad karma of saying no.
