backpass
Ball to keeper
A backpass is a pass directed toward one's own goal, typically from a midfielder or defender to the goalkeeper.
In association football, the backpass rule prohibits goalkeepers from handling deliberate passes from teammates' feet: The keeper had to clear it with his feet after the backpass.
The term applies in other sports where passing backward is strategic or restricted.
