autocorrecting

Fixing typos automatically

Autocorrecting is the process of automatically replacing typed text with presumed corrections—fixing spelling errors, completing words, or substituting terms deemed more likely.

Software autocorrects on phones and computers, sometimes helpfully, often infuriatingly: I wasn't autocorrecting, that's what I meant to type.

The word also describes the act of catching and fixing one's own errors mid-speech or mid-thought.
