miscorrection
Faulty editorial change
A miscorrection is a correction that introduces error rather than fixing it—changing something right to something wrong, or replacing one mistake with another.
Spell-checkers are notorious for miscorrections: The software miscorrected "Nguyen" to "Nun".
The term also applies to overcorrections in speech, grammar, or any domain where attempted improvement makes things worse.
