autoanalysis

Examining your own psyche

Autoanalysis is self-examination or self-study, particularly psychological introspection conducted without a therapist.

Freud famously conducted autoanalysis on his own dreams and memories.

The term also appears in technical contexts for automated analysis by machines: The software performs autoanalysis of the data.

The prefix auto- carries both senses—self and automatic.
