ascorbate
Citrus nutrient salt
Ascorbate is the chemical form of vitamin C as it exists in the body and in many supplements.
While ascorbic acid is the pure vitamin, ascorbate refers to its salt forms—sodium ascorbate, calcium ascorbate—which are less acidic and gentler on the stomach.
The terms are often used interchangeably in nutrition contexts.
