cytochrome
Cellular respiration protein
Cytochromes are proteins containing iron that transfer electrons in cellular respiration and photosynthesis.
Found in mitochondria and chloroplasts, they form chains that pass electrons from one cytochrome to another, releasing energy cells use to produce ATP.
Different types are designated by letters: cytochrome c, cytochrome b.
