artificial element

Made in reactors

An artificial element is a chemical element not found in nature, created through nuclear reactions in laboratories or particle accelerators.

All elements with atomic numbers above 94 (plutonium) are artificial, though some lighter elements like technetium are also synthesized.

These elements are typically unstable, decaying rapidly: Most artificial elements exist for only fractions of a second before breaking down.
