arrowwood
Straight-stemmed native shrub
Arrowwood is any of several shrubs with straight, tough stems historically used by Native Americans for making arrow shafts.
The name applies especially to certain viburnums native to eastern North America.
The plants produce clusters of white flowers and small blue-black berries: The arrowwood along the fence line attracts birds in autumn.
