archaist

Lover of antiquity

An archaist is someone who uses or advocates for archaic language, styles, or practices—particularly in writing or art.

The term often applies to writers who deliberately employ outdated vocabulary or syntax for effect: The poet was an unrepentant archaist, peppering his verse with thee and thou.

Less commonly, it describes anyone who favors older ways over modern ones.
