apple boxes
Set height adjusters
Apple boxes are sturdy wooden crates used extensively in film, television, and photography production.
They come in standard sizes—full, half, quarter, and pancake—and serve countless purposes on set: raising actors to match heights, propping up equipment, creating improvised seating, or leveling surfaces.
The name references their original use as containers for shipping apples, though purpose-built versions are now standard grip equipment.
The DP asked for a half apple under the camera to get the angle right.
