Anteing up is contributing money to a shared pool, from the poker ante—the stake each player puts in before cards are dealt.
The phrase extends to any situation requiring someone to pay their share or meet an obligation: It's time for everyone to ante up for the gift.
To ante up can also mean to produce something demanded: The company finally anted up the documents.
