ankle locks
Lower leg attacks
Ankle locks are submission holds in grappling martial arts that hyperextend or twist the ankle joint to force an opponent to tap out.
Common in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, catch wrestling, and mixed martial arts, they target the ligaments and tendons around the ankle: He caught him in a straight ankle lock from guard.
Variations include the toe hold and heel hook, which attack different parts of the foot and lower leg.
