anime convention
Cosplay fan event
An anime convention is a fan gathering centered on Japanese animation and related media—manga, video games, cosplay.
Attendees dress as characters, attend panels, meet voice actors, and browse vendor halls selling merchandise.
Major conventions like Anime Expo draw tens of thousands: I'm cosplaying as Sailor Moon at the con this weekend.
Often shortened to anime con.
