anhedral
Wings angled downward
Anhedral describes a downward angle of aircraft wings relative to the horizontal—the opposite of dihedral, where wings angle upward.
This configuration reduces stability, which is desirable in highly maneuverable aircraft like fighter jets: The F-104 featured pronounced anhedral in its tailplane.
In crystallography, anhedral describes mineral grains that lack well-developed crystal faces.
