angsting

Brooding with intensity

Angsting is indulging in or expressing intense anxiety, emotional turmoil, or brooding—often with a sense of dramatic excess.

The word comes from teenage and fan-fiction culture, where characters or people engage in prolonged emotional distress: She spent the whole episode angsting over whether to tell him the truth.

Sometimes used dismissively to suggest the worry is overwrought or self-indulgent.
