agnatic succession
Throne through fathers
Agnatic succession is inheritance of titles, property, or thrones through the male line only.
Under this system, women cannot inherit and cannot pass inheritance rights to their children.
Many European monarchies historically followed agnatic succession, though most have since reformed: Salic law enforced strict agnatic succession in France.
The term comes from the Latin for relatives through the father.
