afflux

Rush of fluid

Afflux is a flowing toward or coming together at a point—the opposite of efflux.

The term appears in medical and technical contexts: an afflux of blood to an organ, an afflux of water behind a dam.

More abstractly, it can describe any sudden gathering or influx: an afflux of refugees to the border.
