act three
Drama's closing section
Act three is the final section of a traditional three-act dramatic structure, where conflicts reach their climax and resolution.
In figurative use, act three describes any situation approaching its conclusion or decisive moment: We're in act three of this negotiation—time to close the deal.
The term often carries dramatic weight, suggesting stakes have been raised and outcomes are imminent.
