Warring States

Pre-unification Chinese era

Warring States refers to a period in ancient Chinese history (roughly 475–221 BCE) when rival kingdoms fought for supremacy before unification under the Qin dynasty.

The era produced foundational works of philosophy, military strategy, and statecraft: Sun Tzu's Art of War emerged from the Warring States period.

The term sometimes describes any situation of prolonged conflict among competing powers.
